Ruffles & Suede

My love relationship with Suede and Ruffles go longer than I can remember. Today I was looking for new arrivals on some online websites and I realised that I was unconsciously adding a lot of ruffled items to my wishlist before I deleted them one by one. I feel very feminine when I wear ruffles which I suppose is the case with most of us and lately I’ve also been addicted to mesh clothing. That’s when this sweater in Wine ended in my closet as this has both the elements that I love – Ruffles and Mesh.

I’ve always found comfort in any kind of clothing but I’ve also noticed that the kind of clothes I wear, makes me change my behavioural patterns. For example, I often find myself feeling very girly and delicate in clothes such as the one I’m wearing here as opposed to how laid-back I feel when I’m wearing baggy denims with sneakers. I guess my tomboy past surfaces at times but other than that I somehow find myself feeling comfortable wearing different kinds of style. Not that I can pull off anything but just the handful of style variations that I manage to carry off. I used to be ridiculously tomboyish once upon a time and for friends who meet me after a long period of time – I find that they are always surprised when they see me walking in heels. Not that I myself had expected to walk in heels back then! But I guess transformations just happen over time and maybe even the company we are with. When I came down to Bangalore from Kalimpong for my studies, I found myself in the company of different kinds of girls with varied styles and overtime, I guess we were so used to shopping together that our choices slowly started meandering to similar items and before I knew it – I had become a girl who started loving dresses and heels. Well during that time I even grew my hair till my waist which was very unlike me. Well, while the hair length has gone back to being short again, I find that I love dressing up in skirts and dresses and wearing heels and doing makeup and of-course colouring my hair. However, off-work hours still finds me lounging around in jogger pants ( that I absolutely love)  and my boyfriend’s t-shirt. All the time.

 I’m wearing:

Top: Chicwish [ Shop same here ]

Suede Embroidered Skirt: Chicwish [ Shop similar here and here ]

Bag: Michael Kors Selma

Hope you like this look and have an amazing day!

  • Sis, firstly Happy Women’s Day to my queen Nilu! I love seeing you in this outfit especially with the way you color clash the purple and brown together, and of course that ruffle details and mesh, those really amp up the lady-ness of this outfit. I’m still searching for sleeves if this kind in a blouse as I realize my wardrobe has none at the moment. Styles do change over time, that I agree with you strongly. I remember being allergic to dresses and skirts, but after following you for how ages, I started wearing like one maybe in 2015. Now, I’m really embracing all these femme pieces and will also mix them somewhat. You are a big source of that change and I want to thank you for that. And yes, I remember your long hair, that was the first few things about you that stood out on your Lookbook profile. Heheh. I hope you are doing well there sis! Stay brilliant! 😀 xoxo

Two years back when I was in NYC there was a Korean girl in our apartment whom I used to often meet in the elevator and one day she wore a beautiful silk dress with big roses printed and that was from Chicwish that’s how I heard of the brand and then I saw your post of Yellow Skirt…. I fell in love with it… But just have not ordered anything as yet from the site but after seeing this Ruffle Top I am off for some shopping 😛

Ruffles have a way of adding that feminine touch. Ruffles in purple is a winner for me. You look lovely Nilu!

  • Nilu, I like the ruffled shirt, it’s unique and the color is so very pretty xox… I too act different ways while wearing different types of clothing… I love the girly look but I also adore the comfy casual look… you look amazing xox

  • So effortlessly chic. Love the choice of colors and pieces! 🙂

  • That’s true. So much that people use power dressing to project authority. Clothes can make a difference the way we feel about ourselves and even the way people see us.

    Lovely ensemble as always.

  • Strike that pose mama. Loving the outfit.
