Jodhpur Rajasthan Diary

by

Jodhpur is a beauty. My first experience of Jodhpur has been so amazing that it will always linger as a happy memory to me. I finally got an opportunity to visit this beautiful city last week when Vivo invited me to experience Jodhpur with them. I can write that I was really excited as I haven’t visited North India much and I’d been hoping to visit Jodhpur some time this year. Getting an invitation email from Vivo certainly made that wish come true for we had the best experience in Jodhpur with a well planned itinerary.

Sanglyan joined me on this trip as well and we started our journey on the 20th which began with us boarding the flight from Bangalore to Delhi. I must write that we had a very rough start that day as we realised at 3am that our 7am flight had been delayed to 9.30 which meant missing our connecting flight from Delhi to Jodhpur. So instead of sleeping, we ended up rescheduling our flights in the wee hours of the morning and had to rush for an early morning rescheduled flight to Delhi. We were lucky that we managed to make it in the nick of time but it seemed pretty pointless when our Delhi to Jodhpur flight ended up getting delayed too eventually. I was already feeling the effect of the lack of sleep and by the time we reached our hotel, Taj Hari Mahal Palace Jodhpur, I would say that I was quite exhausted but super excited. Being in a new place always makes me excited, which I suppose it does to a lot of people, but since we were scheduled to have dinner in the sand dunes that night with local performance and singing, I could barely rest in one place. Shortly after reaching our rooms we headed for the sand dunes dinner experience which I say is amazing!

The dinner experience was something which I had not expected again. And again it was everything I could have hoped for. The area was laden with cozy looking tents and each lantern in the tents illuminated the night sky making the entire place look ethereal. Listening to folk songs, eating the local cuisine while dipping your toes in the sand, which was quite cold, is something that I’m not bound to forget for the rest of my life. And since this was my first time visiting the sand dunes, the entire experience remains very memorable.
The next day, I started my day late as I’m someone who cannot sleep less than 8 hours and it was past midnight when we arrived back at our hotel from dinner. Post breakfast we set out to experience Zip-lining with Flying Fox across the Mehrangarh Fort after which we planned to visit the local market and be back to the hotel for a cocktail dinner with local Tanoura Dance performance.

Now if I sit back and think of all the things that I did in Jodhpur, I realise that I ended up doing so many things for the first time in the three days that I was there. I experienced  how cold the sand feels in the night, had dinner beside a bonfire listening to good local folk music while allowing my feet to sink in the sand, Zip-lining across forts which I’d never imagined I would do and goading my boyfriend into playing dressing up with me into the ethnic Rajasthani attire because it is so much fun! And through this post I want to thank the Vivo team for giving us such an amazing experience.

Hope you enjoyed this post and have an amazing day!

Love,

Nilu Yuleena.

  • Oh my gosh Nilu, what an exciting trip… there is so many amazing sites to see there and the colors are gorgeous. I wish I had gone zip lining there, it looked scary but it also looked so fun… I want to do something crazy like that… it sounds exhilarating… You really did a great deal in 3 days, just wow xox

    • Launna you should try something as crazy as this one day. This isn’t really as scary as a Bungee jump but the adrenaline rush makes it so worth it ❤

Beautiful post 🙂 Love your entire Rajastani look. Where is all your jewellery from? <3

    • Thank you Melody. The VIVO team actually arranged all the garments and accessories in the event we wanted to shoot and we just used it from their inventory.
