Let me not scare you with this image. To be honest, the image looks scarier than what actually happened. And believe me, it was like dozing in a dim lit room only to wake up to fuller lashes. Hint: It does not hurt a Bit! No, not at all.
So how does it feel getting an eyelashes extension?
The answer my friend, is nothing. Physically nothing but psychologically I feel great! I had once read about eyelash extension but my knowledge in the beauty sector has always been a little foggy. So when I went this one day to Bounce Salon to tone my hair which was slowly turning into a shade of buttery yellow after every wash, I see this lady doing some fancy artwork on her nails and I jokingly passed a remark saying it will take me ages to get nails like that. Off course the comment didn’t make sense to my hair stylist of 8 years who apparently thought I was joking. And just to clarify she told me about the nail extensions which actually got me interested for several reasons.
There it goes and while I was getting my hair done, I casually inquired a manicurist if there was any hope for my nails to be like the one I’d just seen in the salon and it was then I guess that the joke came out – I was a Beauty Retard, had I known I can easily transform my nails at whim in a couple of minutes, I would have got this done a long time ago and to know that a salon I’d been frequenting for the last 8 years did it, all I can say is I was mortified.
However, I couldn’t help wondering about the eyelashes extension that the girls at the salons were gushing about so much and being their regular customer, I’m friends with them all and I believe them. So while doing my nails and hair we were discussing about how eyelashes extension were the highest done service there and how much the customers loved it. I came back home and off-course did a bit of a research. And I went for it.
How is the extensions done?
Eyelash extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes stuck to your original eyelashes. The procedure takes close to two hours, so if you have a date scheduled on that day, ensure you book an early appointment. I put around 40 lashes as I didn’t want the lashes to look unnatural. My real lashes however present are very thin and I was very excited to add some volume and length to my existing ones. But one can put more lashes too if they want depending on how voluminous they want the lashes to look.
Does it hurt?
The only thing that hurt me was getting my tattoo done some years ago. So in answer to this question, you won’t even feel the lashes being stuck to your eyelids. You can choose to put a pleasant song on your ipod or phone and take a nap since you won’t feel a thing which is exactly what I intend to do the next time I go for refills.
How long does it last?
I’ve been told it’ll last for two weeks and I mean the entire lashes and I’ve been asked to come back after two weeks if in case I feel I need to fill in more lashes. Its been 24 hours that I got my lashes done. Removed makeup from my eyes twice, washed my face 4 times and I didn’t see a single lash flying anywhere which means I might not necessarily have to go after two weeks but I’ll go anyways to meet my ladies.
What makeup remover I should use for the eyes?
I’ve been asked to use a gel based makeup remover and not an oil base but it doesn’t matter as I use Bioderma Sensibio which I feel is the mildest makeup cleanser and it works for me.
How do I protect the longevity of the lashes?
I’ve read articles that said no water or moisturisers near the lashes for atleast 2 days. But since I was going out for something where washing my face was mandatory and I couldn’t leave without my makeup, I broke that rule.
How do I maintain the shape of the extended lashes?
I got a spoolie brush from the salon and after every face wash I’ve been running it over the lashes which is almost the same as applying the mascara without the liquid.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the number of eyelashes you apply. I applied 40 eyelashes and the cost was around 3000 change with taxes.
While I was getting my eyelashes done, I also got some nail art done to my nails and had the colour change from wine red to this deep shade of ink blue colour also from OPI.
After 24 hours:
These pics were taken before I did my eye makeup. The lashes look denser and natural and to be honest one would never know these are extensions. Even on closer inspection.
It does however feel a little funny when I wash my face but otherwise there is no feeling at all. I feel great and I’m not making any beauty standards here but I suggest you should get these extensions done at-least once to experience the difference it makes and decide for yourself if these extensions are meant for you. I’ve made up my mind, with every gel refill I’m going to get for my nails biweekly I’ll ensure that I keep these lashes refilled for sometime.
Hope you like this post and have an awesome week!
