Baby Blue

by

While I found ruffles very dramatic and flouncy in the past, I’m quite surprised at how I’ve managed to collect so many outfits with it in the last couple of years that it seems almost like an outfit mandate to me. I find ruffles irresistible and while in the past, I would have laughed at someone sporting so much ruffles as I do now, I just don’t mind adding drama to my outfit at all. For to me ruffles are feminine as they are sexy. And I could settle for end number of ruffles in my outfit anytime of the year. And the stripes.

While typing of this post, I’m reminded of how some years ago we were so obsessed with low waisted denims and didn’t even bother about denims like this. I remember thinking how low waisted skinny denims complemented every outfit I wore and then I couldn’t imagine at all how I would look in a high waisted denim. Not that I didn’t like high waisted denim then. A good high waisted denims, then and now, is still tricky to find. If the fit isn’t good, we turn out looking absolutely ridiculous. If the fit is perfect, well you know how it looks. One thing that makes me wear high waisted denims over the low waisted ones is that it makes my legs look longer. And that for a petite 5’1 like me is a boon. Also my body shape is such that I have narrow hips so I’m a little lucky when it comes to finding high waisted denims. Not that I don’t alter my denims too. I alter a lot of clothes to fit me to my liking except a couple of clothes that just feel like they were made for my body. And having said that, I guess I got lucky with these high waisted denims from Na-kd because I didn’t have to take it to the tailor for manipulation.

This outfit that I’ve put together, unconsciously combines everything that I repeat a lot – High Waist denims ( my current favourite being this front slit one from na-kd.com) , Stripes ( that I can wear almost all day all week), Ruffles ( an outfit staple that I cannot seem to do without) and Blue ( my favourite colour).  Having an amazing location as a backdrop is something else and while we were shooting a lot of dresses and resort wear in Orange County Resorts, Hampi, I also decided to do one casual one featuring this beautiful bag from Furla that I’d carried with me.

I must say that I wasn’t that into ruffles back in the day, i found them something that is so extra for a girl to wear but for low wais denim I’ve never liked them, they’ve never fit me the way I wanted and didin’t look good on me that’s why I love high-waisted denims, they fit perfectly. And now for ruffles, I find them so flattering and gives such a nice touch to your look, makes it classy and elegant such as the one you are wearing, i just LOVE it !! You look gorgeous <3

  • I have personally always preferred the high waist denims to the low waist ones because they fit me much better. But of late I haven’t really come across anything that I particularly like and hence I am still stuck with my regular mid waist ones.
Stripes and blue are my all time favourite combination. And you look so amazing…

  • There’s nothing wrong to add a bit of drama vibe in the look, right? You look so beautiful as always babe!

  • The ruffle off-shoulder top looks elegant the way you styled it. I don’t yet have dramatic ruffles in my closet but I might just surprise myself and wear some ruffles. You are right about the low-waist denim era, I think it was early 2000s. I remember wearing mine too and thinking no way, I’d be wearing some mom jeans but alas, I feel the current high-waisted ones are my favorite, like you said, depending on the cut. If it flatters my rear, then YES! I love the setting of this shoot, looks so serene and the architecture, eye-catching. Always a delight to see your OOTDs sis! SMILE 😀 xoxox

    • Thank you sis <3 I saw your recent post with your poem too and the cute OOTD but for some reason I was unable to comment then! But I'm certainly visiting your space today <3

  • This top is gorgeous! Im obsessed with this outfit 🙂
